SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- It's been six weeks since Gov. Gavin Newsom deployed the California National Guard and California Highway Patrol into the drug-plagued Tenderloin neighborhood. Fentanyl seized by the state's task force revealed just how massive supplies flowing onto the streets of San Francisco actually are. A 2023 surge in fentanyl overdose deaths, unbridled open-air drug markets operating in plain sight, and overwhelmed San Francisco Police Department officers combined into one big crisis in the city.Using intelligence and analysis provided by the National Guard on major drug trafficking cartels, CHP officers scooped up enough fentanyl to potentially kill over 2.1 million people. All of that fentanyl was found within just the past six weeks, and before it could reach the hands of addicts, according to the Governor's Office. Newsom released shocking numbers exposing the magnitude of San Francisco's drug crisis.CHP officers seized over 4.2 kilos of fentanyl in the Tenderloin ...The FBI Is Hunting a New Domestic Terror Threat: Abortion Rights Activists

Following a concerted effort by Republicans to pressure law enforcement agencies to target activists supporting the right to abortion, the FBI dramatically increased its caseload on abortion-related “domestic terrorism.”Last year, as the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade sparked major protests nationwide, the FBI opened nearly 10 times as many investigations into cases of abortion-related domestic terrorism as it had in 2021, a new internal report reveals. While the report doesn’t say how many of these incidents were motivated by support for reproductive rights and how many were anti-abortion, the uptick follows calls by top Republicans in Congress for the bureau to pursue “pro-abortion terrorism.” “Pro-abortion terrorism is sweeping our nation,” Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., wrote in a column last June, lamenting that “only after the outcry from the pro-life community did the FBI announce an investigation” into Jane’s Revenge — a small group of activists that firebo...Xander Schauffele matches Rickie Fowler’s 62, ties US Open record

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings reported for minicamp this week with a dress-up theme — sports jerseys — that came with a contest to award the most creative player. The assignment generated by quarterback Kirk Cousins spread through the entire organization, with roughly two-thirds of all staff wearing one to work on Tuesday — some current, some throwback, some random choices in between. “All Kirk’s idea,” Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said. “That was his whole deal, and the guys took it and ran with it.”Cousins chose a Georgetown-era Allen Iverson jersey. An assistant coach who wanted to needle his boss, whom O’Connell declined to name, found a replica of the head coach’s jersey from his college career at San Diego State.
