Jay Woodcroft is out as coach of the Edmonton Oilers after the supposed Stanley Cup contenders lost 10 of their first 13 games this season.Woodcroft was fired Sunday at the end of the team’s road trip, which wrapped up with a 4-1 win at Seattle on Saturday night. That victory was not enough to save Woodcroft’s job in the aftermath of a four-game losing streak, including an embarrassing 3-2 loss at the NHL-worst San Jose Sharks earlier in the week.Kris Knoblauch, Connor McDavid’s junior hockey coach, was named Woodcroft’s replacement, and Hall of Famer Paul Coffey joins his staff as an assistant. Knoblauch is the organization’s 10th coach in 15 seasons and the fifth since McDavid joined the team in 2015.After the loss in San Jose on Thursday night, Woodcroft said he wasn’t worried about his job security.“No one’s happy with where we’re at,” Woodcroft said. “We all own it. We can be better, and that’s where my focus is.”The Oilers had lost focus und...Perfect India routs Dutch in last group game at Cricket World Cup. Kohli claims rare ODI wicket

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — It wasn’t until late into Von Miller’s weekly session with reporters when the Buffalo Bills edge rusher came to a realization regarding how his surgically repaired right knee is feeling better by the week, and the significance of facing his former team on Monday night. After spending a majority of his time on Thursday detailing how much he cherished his 10-plus seasons in Denver and calling the outing “just another game,” Miller acknowledged there might be something more to it.He didn’t exactly contradict himself. It’s more as if the 34-year-old Miller found perspective in the timing of the game, how far he’s come in the nearly 12 months since he was hurt, and more importantly, how far he still needs to go after getting no sacks, one quarterback hit and one tackle in five games since returning.“You know, I can go out there and win the game by myself, kind of like a quarterback on offense. I’ve always had that type of self-belief,” Miller said.“So it’s definit...Texas A&M fires coach Jimbo Fisher, a move that will cost the school $75M

Tens of thousands of people across Spain demonstrated on Sunday against Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s plans to grant amnesty to Catalan separatists in order to secure support for another term in office.Sánchez signed the controversial agreement last week after the Catalan separatist Junts party gave its backing to the prime minister’s Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) to form a new government.
