ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Hundreds of people rallied at the state capitol today calling on the government to support tenant protections and affordable housing in the 2024 budget. Good cause measures at the local level have been challenged in the courts, with the State Supreme Appellate Court striking down Albany’s good cause eviction law earlier this year, saying it conflicted with state law. MOREAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A traffic stop in Moreau resulted in three drug arrests on Saturday. Alexia Azan (19, Fort Edward), Joshua Waddell (42, Fort Edward), and Matthew Bennett (40, Queensbury) each face charges. On Saturday, March 18, around 8:20 p.m., police pulled a car over in Moreau for several vehicle and traffic law violations. Police identified the driver as Waddell and Azan and Bennett as passengers. Following an investigation, police say they found all three possessed drugs, with Bennett also having drug paraphernalia with drug residue.Charges:Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substanceSecond-degree criminally using drug paraphernaliaAll three were taken to Wilton State Police for processing. Perry will replace Mayor Bob Blais, whose 52-year term comes to an end on Friday, March 31. Blais has been celebrated for his decades of work to turn the village into the tourist destination it is today, culminating last week in the form of a commendation from Warren County, naming March 17 "Mayor Bob Blais Day." Perry has served on the village Board of Trustees since 2007. A second Illinois corrections officer has been sentenced to prison, according to a news release.Todd Sheffler. 54, a former lieutenant at the Western Illinois Correctional Center in Mt. Denver police were responding to a shooting outside East High School on Wednesday morning and said there were two adult victims — faculty members — and that a suspect had left the school.Denver Public Schools spokeswoman Rachel Childress confirmed the victims were two adult faculty members and that they’d been shot “near East Campus.”Police said they had been transported to area hospitals.
