PARIS (AP) — Kylian Mbappé’s penalty deep into stoppage time salvaged a point for Paris Saint-Germain in a 1-1 draw with an injury-depleted but tenacious Newcastle team.Alexander Isak scored on a rebound in the 24th minute, making up for his earlier miss when he shot over the bar from close range.Miguel Almirón sent in a speculative shot from the edge of the box and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma could only push it away to Isak’s feet for an easy finish.PSG wasted chance after chance and Newcastle seemed on course to pull off another unlikely win to follow the 4-1 victory over the same opposition last month. That was until Ousmane Dembélé flicked the ball up in the fifth minute of stoppage time and it bounced off Tino Livramento’s chest and onto his arm. Referee Szymon Marciniak gave a penalty after watching the incident on video review and Mbappé blasted the spot-kick past goalkeeper Nick Pope.Newcastle was missing 11 players to various injuries and Sandro Ton...Joe Biden arrives in Denver for fundraiser, Pueblo visit Wednesday

A night out recently turned into an unforgettable encounter for one man as a rat climbed up his leg. The rat encounter happened while David Gomez and his friends were walking on the Harborwalk in South Boston. Gomez captured part of the interaction on camera and recently spoke to 7NEWS, saying he felt the rat before he saw it. “All of a sudden, I felt something on my leg,” he said. “I turned around and I saw it was a rat climbing up.” “I showed it to my friends and they started running,” Gomez continued. Gomez couldn’t help but think his encounter with the overly-friendly rat was funny at the time. But after some thought, he said he realized he’s lucky the rodent didn’t attack him.“We realized it could have gone the wrong way,” he said. “What if that thing bit me and carried disease?”“…It’s dirty. It’s nasty. But I don’t know, I wasn’t afraid of it,” he added. While Gomez’ now viral video is getting some laughs, as someone who has lived in the city for more t...Just Chillin

Blustery and cold for the day. The sun helped a bit but the dang wind kept getting in the way of nice moments. I’ve always held the belief that the wind is the true enemy of the coldest season. Give me 30 degrees and calm conditions over 40 degrees and wind any day–including Taco Tuesday! Our high temps were close to 40 this afternoon and that was below normal by a few degrees. When you look at where our high temps normally occur, it’s usually in the 40s or 50s…22 of 30 days either have high temps in the 40s or 50s. This November has been pretty typical…The core of the cold air is with us right now (Tuesday evening) and will be with us for about another 24 hours as the cold temps extend west toward Chicago…The upshot of this cold air is that it is dry so while Wednesday is another cold day we have another mostly sunny day on tap…High temps will generally run below normal by 5-8 degrees but that wind won’t be so rude and disruptive when ...Revolution sign Tomas Chancalay as a designated player

Forward Tomas Chancalay left his native Argentina to experience the rough and tumble of MLS and decided to stay. The New England Revolution exercised their permanent transfer option and signed the 24-year-old forward to an MLS contract as a Designated Player through the 2026 season with a one-year club option. Chancalay transferred from Racing Club in Argentina in August. This was a strategically sound transaction employed by a franchise that has not hired a permanent head coach or sporting director since Bruce Arena resigned both positions in September while under an MLS investigation.Chancalay debuted on Aug. 26 and quickly became the club’s top scoring option, supplanting Gustavo Bou, and Giacomo Vrioni during a tumultuous phase of the season. Chancalay scored six goals in 11 games that included two braces.“Thomas performed admirably in his first season in New England and possesses both the natural attacking instincts and technical prowess to be an elite attacking talent in our lea...Artūras Karnišovas faces reality of Chicago Bulls’ dismal 5-13 start: ‘I’m not running from it. It’s my responsibility.’

The Chicago Bulls are stuck in a hole. It’s unavoidable. And executive vice president of basketball operations Artūras Karnišovas knows it.A 5-13 record. A four-game losing streak. A star player pushing for a trade. The first five weeks of the season have quickly tanked any hopes the rebuild centered on Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vučević would finally begin to click.Karnišovas acknowledged the gravity of the situation in a brief conversation with three reporters at the team’s shootaround in Boston before Tuesday night’s game against the Celtics.“We see what everyone is seeing and are just as frustrated,” Karnišovas said. “We’re disappointed, but I’m not running from it. It’s my responsibility.”This is not the season the Bulls were expecting. That has been clear from top to bottom. The front office returned the majority of the roster with the expectation the Bulls could build off the ...Extreme starting rotation makeover: 5 trade candidates Red Sox can target
Published Fri, 27 Dec 2024 09:46:16 GMT
There’s been ample discussion about the starting pitching options on this winter’s free-agent market, but it’s not the only avenue the Red Sox can take on their journey towards a better rotation. They can trade for a young arm with years of club control, or go for a short-term rental. There’s also the Rick Porcello route: acquire and extend. For the first time in years, the Red Sox have the kind of farm system that enables them to make significant, even blockbuster trades. Serendipitously, their newfound abundance lines up nicely with the trade market, which includes several intriguing arms. There’s a familiar divisional foe in Tyler Glasnow, who’s been dominant since the Tampa Bay Rays acquired him from the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2018. When healthy, that is. Since the start of ‘19, the right-hander owns a 3.03 ERA and 1.013 WHIP. However, he’s only averaged 12 starts per year for a grand total of 34 starts (332 ⅔ innings) across the last five seasons. SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Hundreds of stray cats that roam a historic seaside tourist area of Puerto Rico’s capital where they are considered both a delight and a nuisance will be removed over the coming year, under a plan unveiled Tuesday by the U.S. National Park Service. The agency said it will contract an animal welfare organization to remove the 200 cats estimated to live on 75 acres surrounding a fortress at the San Juan National Historic Site that the federal agency operates in Old San Juan. If the organization fails to remove the cats within six months, the park service said it would hire a removal agency.Cat lovers responded to the plan with dismay, but the agency noted that the felines can transmit illnesses to humans. “All visitors will benefit from the removal of a potential disease vector from the park,” the park service plan stated. The six-month timetable to remove the cats is unrealistic, said Ana María Salicrup, secretary of the board of directors for the nonprofit...Latest news
