Dear Amy: I have a wonderful marriage of several decades with “Lance.”In many ways, Lance holds up his end of the roommate bargain that comes with long-term partnership. He cooks half the time, helps me in the garden (even though it’s my interest and not his), does his own laundry, etc.All that said, he’s a terrible slob in the kitchen, and in ways that cause problems. He chops fruit for his breakfast and leaves the peels and rinds on the juice-soaked cutting board, slices pieces from the loaf of bread then leaves it out on the counter amidst piles of crumbs, and leaves his meal leftovers in places piled in the sink.I have tried everything, from strongly reprimanding him to cleaning up after him like he’s a toddler and I’m his mother, to ignoring it hoping he’ll see how bad it gets. However I travel for work and am often gone for a few nights at a time — during which time the kitchen becomes a disaster.I can’t constantly stay on top of i...Legal threat for Md. cannabis-themed company halts sale of Old Bay-like parody sticker

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — High-scoring Iowa star Caitlin Clark doesn’t expect to have much of a shooting touch Sunday when the Hawkeyes play DePaul in an outdoor exhibition at Kinnick Stadium that could set a world record for attendance at a women’s basketball game.Far from it, in fact.“I tell people I will airball twice. Just prepare yourself,” she said. “The wind, the depth perception of seeing the hoop in a big stadium … That’s just how it’s going to be. I’m sure there’ll be no super stellar shooting performances by anybody. It’ll be attack the basket and get to the rim.”More than 50,000 tickets have been sold for the “Crossover at Kinnick” at the 69,000-seat stadium. Net proceeds benefit the university’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital, whose young patients can watch games from window seats. If all goes as planned, Iowa would break the women’s basketball all-time attendance record of 29,619, set by Connecticut and Oklahoma...Estados Unidos envía un segundo grupo de ataque con portaaviones y aviones de combate a la región mientras Israel se prepara para expandir las operaciones en Gaza

Ford, llegó a la costa de Israel la semana pasada.Israe...Dorchester Food Co-op, Boston’s only member-owned grocery store, celebrates grand opening

Washington/Seoul (CNN) — The Pentagon has ordered a second carrier strike group to the eastern Mediterranean Sea and is sending Air Force fighter jets to the region as Israel prepares to expand its Gaza operations, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement Saturday. The US warships are not intended to join the fighting in Gaza or take part in Israel’s operations, but the presence of two of the Navy’s most powerful vessels is designed to send a message of deterrence to Iran and Iranian proxies in the region, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon. The movements are “part of our effort to deter hostile actions against Israel or any efforts toward widening this war following Hamas’s attack on Israel,” Austin said in the statement. The first carrier strike group, led by the USS Gerald R. Here’s what you need to know before kickoff (noon, FOX).5 things to watch in the Bears-Vikings game — plus our Week 6 predictions‘I feel like I am just playing ball’A long weekend coming off the most complete performance in Justin Fields’ three seasons gave the Bears quarterback an opportunity to reflect. The passing game in the last two games has looked, well, like a full-fledged attack and that’s not something we’ve seen with any regularity in these parts. Whether Fields reflected or not, he didn’t have anything revelatory to share about what those at Halas Hall have to hope is a breakthrough.“I think I’m just focused on continuing to get better each and every day,” Fields said. “The offense, as a whole, we’ve gotten better each and every week. How much worse can it get?The Patriots are about to find out.Sunday’s kickoff in Las Vegas offers a potential turning point for their sinking season or a point of no return. The Pats (1-4) are only 3-point underdogs against the Raiders, who have endured similar struggles on offense. Through four games, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been nearly as turnover-prone as Mac Jones, while Las Vegas has yet to score 20 points in a game, just like the Patriots.Defensively, the Raiders aren’t as well-stocked, but they will field by far the best defender: Maxx Crosby. The Pro Bowl defensive end is one of the five best players at his position, according to Bill Belichick; a relentless menace who can ruin any given run or pass play. If the Patriots can slow Crosby, Jones will have a chance to attack a sub-par Las Vegas secondary. But that’s if —and only if — he’s lost his sweet tooth for turnovers. Then, Jones can right himself and perhaps the Patriots’ season. When ...Child rights advocates ask why state left slain 5-year-old Kansas girl in a clearly unstable home

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Zoey Felix’s short life was filled with turbulence. Before the 5-year-old Topeka girl was raped and killed, worried neighbors say they saw her wandering, dirty and hungry. Police were called to her home dozens of times. Teachers raised alarms when she missed preschool. Both parents alleged abuse. Zoey’s mom was jailed for a drunken car crash with Zoey in the front seat. State welfare officials were notified. In September, Zoey and her father moved out, and neighbors believe they began camping in a nearby vacant lot. Weeks later, Zoey was killed — efforts to save her in a gas station parking lot were unsuccessful — and Mickel Cherry, a 25-year-old homeless man, was charged in her death.Public anger over Zoey’s Oct. 2 death has focused on her parents. But child advocates are asking why police and the state’s embattled Department for Children and Families left the bubbly and curious girl in a dangerous environment. “Our society’s collective failure t...Latest news
