SAN JOSE — Police arrested a man Tuesday after officers found his wife dead in a home in East San Jose, marking the city’s fifth homicide of 2023.Authorities said they were called to the home just before 7 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a dead woman at a residence on the 1300 block of Foxdale Loop. Officers found the woman not conscious and not breathing; she was pronounced dead at the scene.Police did not release any details about why they treated the death as a homicide. SAN JOSE — A student was stabbed Wednesday afternoon at a middle school near San Jose High School, authorities said.The stabbing was reported about 12:07 p.m. Wednesday at Sunrise Middle School, a charter school at 1149 E. Julian Street. San Jose High School is located just across the street.The 15-year-old student who was stabbed was expected to survive, police said in a tweet Wednesday afternoon. Authorities did not specify where the student was stabbed or how many times.Another student was taken into custody as a suspect in the stabbing, police said.Units are currently investigating a stabbing incident at Sunrise Middle School. PALO ALTO, Calif. (KRON) -- A Stanford University employee has been arrested after allegedly lying to police about being raped on the school's campus last year, according to a statement from the County of Santa Clara Office of the District Attorney. Stabbing reported at San Jose middle school Jennifer Gries, 25, of Santa Clara was arrested on Wednesday, and will be arraigned at a later date. Gries has been charged with felony perjury, and she could face jail time if convicted. On August 9, 2022, Gries reportedly told county sexual assault forensic exam nurses at Valley Medical Center that a Black man attacked her inside of a campus garage. Though she did not want to involve law enforcement, she signed the consent form acknowledging that the nurse was a mandated reporter who must inform law enforcement of the incident. (KRON) -- Units with the San Jose Police Department are currently investigating a stabbing at Sunrise Middle School, according to a tweet from SJPD. A 15-year-old student sustained a non-life threatening injury, according to police. The suspect, who is also a student, is in custody police said. The suspect will be booked into juvenile hall on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. This is a developing story. (KRON) -- A hit-and-run incident left a pedestrian with life-threating injuries on Thursday, and police are asking for assistance in identifying the driver, according to the San Jose Police Department. The police investigation showed that a white, or light colored, four-door truck was turning west onto Tully Road from Fling Avenue into the first lane. In a case that hinged on the definition of “beer,” a federal jury ruled Wednesday that Constellation Brands can still sell Corona and Modelo hard seltzers in the U.S.Anheuser-Busch InBev and its Mexican subsidiary, Grupo Modelo, sued Constellation in 2021, seeking to force it to halt sales of Corona Hard Seltzer and Modelo Ranch Water, a spiked sparkling beverage. Constellation has been licensed to sell Corona and Modelo beers in the U.S. since 2013 under an agreement reached with antitrust regulators after AB InBev acquired Grupo Modelo. SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (AP) — A house fire in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has killed a man and three young children, authorities said Wednesday.The bodies of a 31-year-old adult and three children believed to range in age from 1 to 4 years old were recovered from the fire Tuesday morning in Sault Ste. Marie, the city’s police and fire chiefs said in a news release posted on Facebook.A man in his 30s was found dead at the scene of the fire, Police Chief Wesley Bierling said.
