East Bay football team fundraises for Maui wildfire victims

(BCN) -- The mother of a missing 17-year-old girl confirmed on social media Sunday that human remains found near Castle Rock Park were her daughter's. Nola Schneider, the mother of Katherine "Katie" Schneider, said her daughter died in a car accident. The girl was reported missing on July 5 and was last seen leaving her Saratoga home in a white 2019 Honda Accord. (KRON) -- A dead body was found in the Oakland's Eastmont neighborhood Monday morning, according to police. Oakland police received a report of a deceased person in the 2700 block of 79th Avenue just after 8:45 a.m. Officers located the dead body and OPD's Homicide Section took over the investigation. (KRON) -- A robbery suspect who allegedly tried to escape police by jumping into a lagoon was arrested Sunday morning, according to the San Mateo Police Department. San Mateo PD officers responded at 6:41 a.m. Sunday to the 600 block of Vanessa Drive in response to a resident who saw two men on security camera trying to enter a locked gate onto their property.Unable to open the gate, the men left, according to police. (KRON) -- Two people are dead following two separate traffic collisions that occurred in San Jose over the weekend, according to the San Jose Police Department. Friday, August 11Around 5 p.m., a collision involving two cars occurred at the intersection of Berryessa Road and Sabal Drive. A 2016 Chrysler 200 was traveling eastbound on Berryessa Road when it struck a 2012 Honda Accord as the Chrysler was turning onto Sabal Drive, police said. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. The driver of the Chrysler, a man who was the sole occupant of the car, sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after, SJPD said.
