By STEPHEN WHYNO (AP Hockey Writer)FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — The sour taste in the aftermath of their Stanley Cup Final Game 3 loss is gone for the Vegas Golden Knights, who quickly moved on to enjoying the nearby ocean breeze. They’re breathing easily up 2-1 on the Florida Panthers in the series, knowing fully they’ve been the better team so far. Taking a day away off the ice and away from the rink — but not too far away from hockey on this big a stage — the Golden Knights are calm, cool and confident going into Game 4 Saturday night with another chance to move toward hoisting the Cup.“We’re not going to change a lot. We don’t need to,” coach Bruce Cassidy said from his team’s beachfront hotel Friday morning. “We’re not going to beat ourselves up over (Game 3). We’re going to do what we’ve always done. We’re going to work to get better and keep growing our game and hopefully be better.”...Judge rejects lawsuit over property tax, TABOR measure

A multi-faceted proposal to increase Colorado’s cap on tax collection and reduce property owner’s tax burden is clear enough for the ballot this November, a Denver District Court judge wrote Friday. The legislature, with Gov. Jared Polis’ backing, passed the referred measure, known as Proposition HH, this spring. Voters will need to approve the proposition this November for it to become law. If passed, the measure would alter the formula used to establish how much property tax is owed by owners — potentially reducing their burden by hundreds of dollars a year, according to advocates’ projections. The measure would also change the formula set in the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, or TABOR, that’s used to establish how much tax money the state can keep for about the next decade. It would also flatten the refund mechanism for overcollections for the next year. A flatter refund mechanism means lower-income Coloradans will receive a bigger refund, whil...Severe weather causing flight delays at Denver International Airport

Councilmembers are drafting an ordinance that would allow for the adoption of a map that divides neighborhoods. In addition, a 4-district map on the ballot would cost approximately $100,000. Mayor Tim Flaherty wants a four-district map that divides College Park, Gregory Gardens and Poet’s Corner. Residents want a five-district map that keeps neighborhoods together. It is in the best interest of the mayor to have an ordinance for a four-district map to remain on the City Council.Councilmembers should work for the best interest of our city. Dividing neighborhoods is not in our best interest.I hope Pleasant Hill residents voice their opposition by emailing the City Council and attending the next City Council meeting on June 26. Please tell the city not to adopt an ordinance that includes language that can divide our neighborhoods a...Latest news
