Judge rules 14th Amendment lawsuit seeking to bar Donald Trump from Colorado ballot can proceed

Determining whether a Civil War-era Constitutional amendment disqualifies Donald Trump from Colorado’s ballot holds enough public benefit that a lawsuit seeking to bar him as a candidate can continue, a Denver judge ruled this week.A group of Colorado voters, backed by a liberal watchdog group, is arguing the 14th Amendment bars Trump from Colorado’s ballot. The lawsuit, filed by Republican and unaffiliated Colorado voters, cites Trump’s alleged role in the Jan. 6, 2021, siege of the nation’s Capitol, as meeting that bar.Trump’s lawyers argued in September that the lawsuit was an attempt to infringe on his First Amendment right to freedom of speech. They sought to dismiss the claim under a Colorado law aimed at protecting people from frivolous lawsuits for exercising that right.Without ruling on the merits of the case, Denver District Court Judge Sarah B. And my 5-year-old tells me when I drop him off at school every day to, ‘Be safe.'”D.C. resident Mitchell Sobolevsky said that he was a victim of a robbery in the Shaw neighborhood in December of 2020.“He told me, ‘Do what I say and you ain...

Marcus Smart is marveling at the Grizzlies’ defensive mindset. He thinks they can be NBA’s best

Published Mon, 10 Mar 2025 07:39:06 GMT

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Marcus Smart sees no reason why the Grizzlies can’t be the NBA’s best defensive team this season. It’s not just bold talk from a brash player. Smart knows exactly why Memphis traded for him in June. Not only did the Grizzlies rank third in the NBA in defensive rating last season behind the play of Jaren Jackson Jr., the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, but Smart won that same award in 2022. That makes Memphis the first NBA team to pair back-to-back defensive players of the year since the award was first handed out in 1983.It has Smart marveling at the possibilities that could be on the horizon.“As a defensive guy coming on a team who thinks just like you and has guys such as Jaren in the same boat (that) understand the defense and how important it is … they’ll take you to a new level,” Smart said.Even as good as the Grizzlies have been on defense, this is an upgrade. They traded Dillon Brooks, who was named to the NBA All-Defense second...

(NEXSTAR) — So-called “forever chemicals” have been found in 45% of the nation’s tap water, according to a government study, but is your Colorado water affected? If you’re wondering whether or not your tap water might contain synthetic chemicals known as PFAS, nonprofit Environmental Working Group created an interactive map using official records and data from public drinking water systems to show where forever chemicals were found to be above and below the advised maximum concentration level, 4 parts per trillion (PPT).EWG notes that while researchers used the highest quality data available, contamination levels are based on a single point in time and may not reflect changes to the water system or treatment efforts.(Copyright © Environmental Working Group)Search the map for your own address. The synthetic compounds known collectively as PFAS are contaminating drinking water to varying extents in large cities and small towns — and in private wells and pub...
